The Route 2016
The route goes through beautiful landscapes along the Adriatic coast, then harder mountain sections over the slopes of Velebit in Dalmatia, entering Istria over the mountain Učka, climbing into Gorski kotar over Gornje Jelenje pass, with a flat finish through Slavonia.
In this way, the most remote points in the Republic of Croatia are connected - the start is in Prevlaka in the south, leading to Savudrija in the west, then St. Martin on Mura in the north, finishing in the easternmost town of Ilok. Overall, the route distance is 1400 km, with 16000 m of climbing, a real challenge for everyone who enjoys endurance cycling and wish to move their own limits by overcoming psycho-physical challenges in conditions of late spring - riding in the sun, rain, wind, heat, cold, day and night.
Control Points
In Prevlaka, contestants will be able to sleep on the night before race start. Each control point should have beds and warm showers, food, mechanical and medicinal assistance, all to be determined further in, during the organization phase. Contestants should also have tracking devices to enable satellite tracking at all times during the race, also enabling viewers to follow it online.
Savudrija is the town with the first control point, 790 km into the route. There is a possibility of offering sleeping accomodations and showers in the local camp, depending on arrangements to be made with the owners. Control in St. Martin on Mura is 1165 km from the start and would be the second control, where accomodations are planned in a hotel. With 400 km to the finish, flat portions of the route will enable the contestants to recuperate and finish in Ilok, the easternmost town in Croatia. It’s one of the regions most renowned for wine and gastronomy, an ideal choice for race finish, allowing the contestants to toast their own and others’ success.
Prevlaka
A peninsula in Croatia, on the entrance to Boka kotorska in south Dalmatia. It is situated in the southeastern part of Konavle called Vitaljina, connected to its reef with a 170m wide and 3-4m high landmass also called Prevlaka. As a part of fortress on peak Oštro there is a lighthouse, a signaling station and military barracks. Yugoslavian army had built a military base in the wider area, with subterranean passages, that has remained hidden from the public for over 50 years.
Savudrija
Legend says Savudrija got its name from the son of German emperor Barbarossa - Otto, who in a naval battle near Savudrija in 1177. against the united fleet of Pope Alexander III attempted to hide in a cistern. “Salvo re” (the saved king) thus became a toponym Salvore, that is Savudrija-Salvore. Cycling trails passing many Roman historic architectural remains, rich gastronomic offerings and the oldest lighthouse in the Adriatic (from 1818.) are only some of the attractions of a summer spent in Savudrija.

In the vicinity there is St. Martin spa, a first-class tourist destination.
